I was chatting to some friends recently about how we had disposable cameras growing up. We would bring them to the shop to get them developed and we had no idea what the photos would look like. A large proportion of them would be pretty bad (fingers or thumbs obscuring the image) but we were so happy to see them printed!
In this digital age, there isn’t a great emphasis on getting photos printed. When was the last time you got photos printed from your phone? I think it’s a generational thing – my mum still gets her photos printed and put into albums.
What has this got to do with wedding albums? If we don’t see the importance of getting our photos printed, we won’t see the value of getting our wedding photos printed into professionally made albums. In this blog, I’m going to explain why you should invest in a wedding album.
Family Heirloom
When you were younger, did you ever ask to see your parents or grandparent’s wedding albums? As a child, I love flicking through their photos and seeing how different they looked! When I was married, she actually gave me a copy of her wedding album for me to have.
Your wedding day is the start of your family. If you have kids, they’ll probably ask about your wedding day. What better way to show them some photos than getting out your wedding album?
It’s a great way to show your photos to your friends and family
Have you ever asked to see a few photos of someone’s wedding, baby or pet and ended up being shown a whole slideshow of photos? It’s exhausting!
When you get your wedding photos delivered, you’re going to have around 500+ images to look through. When friends or family ask to see your photos, they won’t want to look through the whole gallery – they really want to see the highlights. A wedding album will offer the best photos of the day in a beautiful layout for all your loved ones to enjoy. It’s so much easier!
I remember lending my wedding album to my mum so she could bring it to show her friends. It was the best way for her to show everyone.
They’re Timeless
As technology continues to advance, current digital formats will eventually become redundant – does anyone else remember using floppy disks and VCRs?
Getting a wedding album will stand the test of time – they are professionally made and printed, which means there are built to last decades, if they’re looking after properly and stored well.
My parents recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and they brought out their wedding album to relive the day. Even after all those years, it’s stood the test of time.
Aside from all the above, they make great presents! If you’re unsure what to get for your first anniversary, a great present would be a professionally made wedding album (especially since your first anniversary is for paper!).
