I first met Aine and Daragh in January 2020 to chat about their wedding plans. We instantly clicked once we realised that we had a lot of shared interests (Harry Potter and Playstation games to name a few) – I was so excited to be their wedding photographer, not realising all that would happen between that first meeting and their wedding day the following autumn!
Thankfully, they were able to go ahead with their original date with most of the restrictions having already been relaxed for weddings.
I headed to Aine’s house on the morning of the wedding – everyone was relaxed as I got all the detail shots. Your wedding morning will always be the perfect chance to get some gorgeous candid moments of people getting ready, so it was great to get lots of little moments captured before Aine got into her dress.
Getting into your wedding dress is always one of the most intimate parts of the day. The reality that you are hours away from marrying the love of your life finally hits (if it hadn’t already!). Aine’s bedroom had an awesome floor to ceiling mirror, which was perfect for those gorgeous reflection shots.
I love documenting the reactions of your parents and bridesmaids to seeing you in your wedding dress. Aine’s mum’s reaction was so special! After getting some group shots, I headed on to the chapel.
The ceremony was taking place in St. Malachy’s Chapel in Belfast. I caught up with Daragh and his groomsmen while getting some portraits at the front of the chapel. The ones of Daragh on his own look like an album cover shot!
Aine and her bridesmaids arrived in style – that Ford Anglia is absolutely gorgeous. Do you recognise it from anything?
The ceremony was lovely with the beautiful setting making it even better. We took advantage of this by getting some family photos after everyone had departed.
Choosing a later ceremony time meant we were racing to enjoy the last of the light. We headed to Stormont and got some gorgeous photos of both the bridal party and the bride and groom. The golden light hit the tops of the trees, which only made them even nicer!
We arrived at the Clandeboye Lodge as twilight was descending. This rustic wedding venue was the perfect setting for Aine and Daragh’s wedding reception. Before total darkness arrived, we got the standard confetti shot!
After enjoying some quality time with their guests, we were ushered into the room for the speeches. All of the speeches were really well received. Steven, the best man, had everyone in stitches, especially when he started to read out some WhatsApp messages he had printed. I don’t think Daragh was too pleased though!
After dinner we got some shots beside the fire pit, including a gorgeous bridal portrait of Aine in her denim jacket. Before the first dance, we got that sparkler shot!
Everyone danced the night away, and were thoroughly serenaded by Fifth Avenue! What an absolutely brilliant day!
Here’s what Aine and Daragh had to say about their photos:
5 stars doesn’t seem like enough!! Christine was incredible from the very beginning. I was very anxious about the photographer as they would be spending the majority of the day with me, so I wanted someone that could happily get along with. The moment we met Christine for coffee we clicked, with sharing interests with both myself (Harry Potter) and Daragh (all things gaming), not to mention all the TV shows that we could spend ages chatting about. We felt we knew each other for ages! From the engagement shoot to the entire day at the wedding, Christine could not have been better. Christine is super friendly and very talented at what she does. She made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the experience. She was able to instantly put myself, my husband and our families at ease, and captured wonderful photographs. I will treasure them forever. Honestly the best photographer we could have ever hired. We simply cannot recommend her enough!
