The Lough Erne Resort is located just outside Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh. Having grown up here, I have a real soft spot for the lakes and love getting home to explore this beautiful landscape. While Fermanagh has an array of stunning wedding venues, Lough Erne really stands out.
Getting Ready
If you’re having your full day at the resort, I would highly recommend getting ready in one of the lodges. It makes everything more stress-free as you’ll be getting ready on site and you can stay the night beforehand to enjoy all the excitement!
The lodges have lots of space for getting your head / makeup done, while also having a space for breakfast so you get enough to eat that morning!
The bedrooms are perfect for getting into your dress with your mum/bridesmaids and enjoying a first look with your dad!
Outdoor ceremony
Fermanagh is known for being the wettest county in the country, so an outdoor ceremony can be a bit risky! It’s great for allowing your guests to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, while you say your marriage vows with a gorgeous view of the lake.
Cat and Adrian were happy to go ahead, despite the chance of some light rain. They had a humanist ceremony, led by the lovely Kristina which included a hand-fasting and a first drink for them once they said their vows. Their guests weren’t left out – they had left everyone a shot on their seat so they could join in the celebrations!
Unfortunately, the rain did make a brief appearance but Cat and Adrian were happy to power through – they were so chilled! Their guests were prepared and got out their umbrellas for the brief rain shower. Personally, I think it’s a great story to tell!
Indoor ceremony
The ballroom in Lough Erne is also a beautiful place for your wedding ceremony. The windows bring in an abundance of light and it can be a lot cosier for your guests, especially in those colder months!
Natalie and Graham got married in December and it was on one of the coldest days of the year – even the lake at the resort was frozen solid which was absolutely beautiful! Due to the time of year, an outdoor ceremony wasn’t feasible but the ballroom was decorated with two beautiful Christmas trees which made the space even more magical.
Ceremony off-site
If you’d prefer to have your wedding ceremony somewhere else (apart from your local church/chapel), then I would highly recommend having a look at Crom Castle. It’s only 45 minutes away from the resort and the conservatory is a stunning location, with lots of beautiful natural light.
Hannah and Adam opted to have their religious ceremony at Crom as it was close to Hannah’s morning location, while also providing some beautiful surroundings. The sunny day provided some great light throughout the conservatory and after they said their vows, we explored the grounds at Crom to get some beautiful portraits.
Group Shots
I always like to get your family and bridal party shots done as soon as possible so they’ll have as much time to enjoy the drinks receptions as possible. Since you’ll be arriving at the entrance to the Ross Suite, this is the perfect place to get those photos before you make your way downstairs to the rest of your guests!
Portraits
Your photos together are a great way to spend some quality time enjoying that newlywed feeling. We’ll only be away from your guests for a short time but we’re going to have lots of fun!
While your guests will be exploring the area around your drinks reception, there are lots of beautiful places we’ll go for photos – some of my favourites include the entrance to the Ross Suite, the boardwalk and the first tee overlooking the lake.
Fancy doing something a bit different? Louise surprised Liam on their wedding day with his favourite animal, DONKEYS! It was so lovely to capture his genuine surprise and they made their portraits extra special. As a bonus, their guests loved them (especially the kids!).
Sunset
If you’re having an autumn or winter wedding, we’ll be able to take your portraits during golden hour and take advantage of the gorgeous sunset light!
Drinks Reception
I love being a fly on the wall during your wedding day and capturing all those funny moments that your guests share without knowing I’m there.
This is also a great opportunity for you to cut your wedding cake so your guests can enjoy it!
Speeches
One of my favourite aspects of speeches is capturing your guests reactions to all the embarrassing and heartwarming stories that are shared!
You can either have a traditional top table or you can have your table in amongst your guests. Personally, I prefer the latter as I feel you’re immersed more in the emotions!
Dancing
At this point in your wedding day, there’s nothing else to do except PARTY! Your first dance is a great way to get everyone in the party spirit but I also love getting some shots of your guests ripping up the dance floor. Everyone is usually a lot more chilled and up for the craic at this time of the day, so it can make for some great candid moments!
